w39 – Procedural Circle Objects

This one has been on my mind for quite a few weeks, the “Circle Object” first appeared on this blog 10th of April. I wanted to do something similar, and further explore procedural content. It’s not as complex as most of what we have seen the recent 4-5 years in the best 4k intros, but simple enough to pull off during a 3h train ride.  See the finished result here:

 

The first step was to randomize the positions from the “Benchmark Cover” project. 1-random-particles

Then apply a few lines of GLSL to create layers and cuts based on radius and angle2-rings

Add some fog and additive blending

Some blur and fake chromatic abbrivation and et volià, Destination finally reached.
