Getting back into shape part 0
In the mirror I can see my tummy are growing. That’s not a good thing if you consider yourself a male road cyclist. A three digit weight as both a cyclist and skydiver is long past acceptable – but f***ing understandable when life gives you challenges causing you to stress eat sugar and junk for months on end. No more!
Time has come to get back into shape. With two kids time management for maximum suffering is of utmost importance. Of course numbers will be used to track progress. Current categories are, date, current ftp and vo2max. This might sound insane for someone who isn’t particularly interested but I can assure you that these are the numbers I want to focus on.
After a long break and 25kg extra from “form top” the easily accessible numbers as weight (97.5kg) and min HR (59) were surprisingly low considering how my body feels.
I will try to establish a good work-out routine based on the newly investment – kicker v6 trainer – and checkout wahoo RTG, zwift and trainerroad and any other solution that might help me get in to shape. Key focus is to get maximum performance out of as little time possible when it comes to training. Long rides for enjoyment will come in later years I hopefully presume!
