Timeline of Relevant Patents by Assignees
This is an attempt to create a plot that in the most transparent way shows who is developing an appetite for TLens friendly solutions using the patent database. Patents are collected and given a score, from this patents are grouped based on scores (TLens probability and/or dominance).
First step was to remove all Assignees (companies) that only have 1 patent. The ones that has more is shown in the barplot below By sorting the by number of relevant patents for the G2 group we end up with this plot.
In itself this reveals that the worlds two biggest camera module manufacturers are (Sunny, Jiangxi (O-Film subsidiary) are investing heavily in tunable optics.
When these patents are organized as individual timelines – a bigger picture is painted! Priority_Date was used – which is the date for when each patent was filed for. This gives shows us when the patents was ready to be submitted for the first time without accounting for the delays till publications.

I haven’t gotten around to fix the colors and other details as these last months has been poor in the me-time department.
The plots and underlying data is as usually available here. For transparency I’ve added patent references too all the dots as there is most likely some over-optimistic or false positives in this plot. Feel free to let me know if you find any mistakes!
PS: I’ve also decided to release a similar plot with the G3 group – which is favors patents that heavily favors TLens. It must be said that the keyword document is continuously modified and have so far displayed mediocre precision!

The Groups G2 and G3 comes from this selection – which is described in detail in this post.
That’s it for now.
